1.      Performing as a bibliographic centre of comprehensive collections on Myanmar published local and

      foreign countries

2.      Collecting and preserving all national publications and Myanmar ancient manuscripts.

3.      Compiling and publishing the Myanmar National Bibliography

4.      Providing the interlibrary loan with libraries and institutions within the country and abroad

5.      Promoting and encouraging the library movements by cooperating with internationally

6.      Educating the public related to knowledge and library

7.      Acquiring the collections from Southeast Asian countries and disseminate to people

8.      Compiling and publishing the indexes of Myanmar periodicals

9.      Providing the standards on the library professional in order to equal throughout the country

10.  Promoting and upgrading the information technology of the library to participating in the Southeast

      Asia Regional Network
