Borrowing Guide

 You may apply for a library membership card either of the following methods:

1.    Online: complete fill in the online application form, that can be download from Library Website or pick up a printed version from the Library.

2.    Applicants must provide proof of current permanent address, applicant name, father’s name, occupation, phone number, mail address, a copy of ID card.

3.    In-person” bring your National Registration Card(NRC) or ID to the User Services Desk in the Library to complete your registration and obtain your membership card.

4.    Persons (age 15 and older) applying for a Library membership card are required to present valid photo identification and a clear scan of their National Registration Card (NRC).

5.    Children and Young Adults ((age 5 and under 15) must fill the in the registration from and sign the Terms of Conditions Form on behalf of the dependent. Parents or legal guardians must provide a scanned copy of their National registration Card (NRC) or ID and that of the dependent.

6.    A child and young adult membership card will be linked to the parent’s card.

 

Rules for Borrowing

·        Each member may check out up to (5) items at a time using his/her library membership card.

·        These include three books, two CD/DVDs.

·        Loan period and number of renewals are determined by the Circulation Rules to demand for the materials, appropriateness of use, and value of the material.

 

Loan Period and Fines

Library members holding a library membership card may borrow materials according to the categories below:

Note: If members have any overdue items, they are not allowed to check out any more items.

If an extension is required please contact us (document-supply-service/contact).

If the book is not returned on the due date then a fine of one hundred kyats per day (including Sunday, Monday & holiday)

 

Non Borrowing Items

-Newspapers

-Magazines

-Print maps

-Rare Books and Periodicals

-Palm leaf Manuscripts and Parabike (Folded Paper)

-Reference Books

 

Overdue and lost items

-Overdue notices are sent at the end of the loan period. If no response is received the material is assumed lost and an invoice generated.

-A first and a final reminder are sent out before issuing the invoice, allowing you enough time to either contact us (document-supply-service/contact) or return the item.

 

Renewals and opportunities

-Member can renew their books ONE TIME in person ONLY

·        Pre-reserved books CANNOT be renewed.

·        Overdue books CANNOT be renewed.

·  The renewal time is one week for books CD/ DVDs and kits.

 

Returns

All borrowed material can be returned to the User Services Desk, the return stations inside the Library or the 24-hours book drop station beside the Library’s main entrance.

 

Reservation

·        Two books at maximum.

·        CD and DVDs are not allowed for reservation.

·        We will contact when the books are available by phone or mail address.

·        Reservation is not allowed if the library material is available in the library.

Replacement for lost/damaged library items

If the book is not returning with damage or loss of books, the borrower is responsible for costs of books

-The replacement of original book (not copy) within one week.

-Members can replace the lost items with new items of the same title, author and publisher.

-Member will be required to pay five times of the original cost.
